What this tool measures
Every recording sits on a tuning grid anchored to A4. Most modern releases aim for 440 Hz, but real files drift: analogue sources, live takes, sped-up uploads and deliberate 432 or 444 Hz masters all land somewhere else. The analyzer looks at the pitched content across the whole track, fits the grid that best explains it, and gives you the number.

- What is an A4 tuning finder?
- It measures the reference pitch a recording was played or produced at — the frequency of the note A above middle C. Concert standard is 440 Hz, but plenty of recordings sit slightly off it, or were deliberately tuned to 432 or 444 Hz.
- How do I find what tuning a song is in?
- Upload the file above. The analyzer runs FFT-based pitch analysis across the recording, finds the tuning grid that best fits every note it hears, and reports the A4 reference to three decimal places along with the distance in cents from 432, 440 and 444 Hz.
- How accurate is the measurement?
- On normal music the reported A4 lands within a small fraction of a hertz. Very short clips, heavily processed or percussion-only material give the analyzer less pitched content to work with, so results on those are looser.
- Does this change or upload my file?
- No. This page only measures. The audio is decoded inside your browser, never sent to a server, and no converted file is produced or downloaded.
- My song reads 439.6 Hz — is that a mistake?
- Usually not. Analogue tape, vinyl transfers, live performances and older masters often drift a little off the nominal 440 Hz grid. That is exactly why the converter measures each track instead of assuming 440.
- What do I do with the number?
- If you want the song on an exact reference, use the measured value as the starting point and retune it: the converter shifts the whole recording by the ratio target ÷ detected A4, so A4 lands on 444.000 or 432.000 Hz with no tempo change.
